Locations
Flamingo/Chokoloskee:
These areas are truly the most special in terms of fishing, and wildlife viewing. With over 1 million acres of pure wilderness, the opportunities out there are truly endless. You can go deep into backwater ponds/tunnels, reach pristine grass flats, or
venture to spoil islands overlooking the Gulf of Mexico all within the same day. The fishing for the combination of redfish, snook, tarpon, and speckled trout is truly second to none. Every day out there is truly unique, and the wildlife is everywhere you look. Anyone can expect to see stingrays, sharks, alligators, crocodiles, unique birds, manatees and even dolphins. There’s simply no better way to experience Everglades National Park.
Freshwater Everglades:
In the freshwater Everglades, you can expect to experience a great amount of biodiversity and scenic views. The ecosystem ranges from sawgrass prairies to cypress swamps and holds no shortage of wildlife. You can expect to see tons of alligators and many varieties of bird, fish, and plant species. The primary fishing targets for most in these waters are largemouth bass, peacock bass, mayan cichlids, and oscars. These areas are highly recommended for beginners because the waters are calm, and the fishing is action packed.
Miami Canals:
The Miami canals are great for quick local action, right in the heart of our metropolis. They are often overlooked, but are actually full of prized fish. On such a trip you can challenge yourself to chase the elusive Urban Grand Slam, catching a peacock bass, largemouth bass, and a tarpon or snook! These waterways can also be fun for chasing endless species of non-native invasive fish which have proliferated. Ask about Iguana Hunting too!
Biscayne Bay:
Biscayne Bay is a great in-between for anyone who wants to experience lots of wildlife and great fishing outside of the city without having to go so far. It holds great fishing opportunities both inshore and near-shore. Mangrove snapper, yellowtail snapper, and grouper are abundant on the patch reefs and shallow cut-throughs. Meanwhile, on the Grass flats and along mangrove islands/shorelines you can expect to target the elusive bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook too! The waters throughout all of Biscayne Bay are crystal clear, and make for a beautiful day no matter what! Wildlife viewers will have the opportunity to see dolphins, manatees, sharks, stingrays, and a unique variety of birds too!
